Happy Birthday Kairi!

Posted by The Drakes'

It's official we are the parents of a one year old. It is crazy to think that a whole year has gone by. To celebrate we had family and friends over Sunday night to have cake and ice cream. As you can tell Kai really got into it. She was a mess but she had so much fun making herself a mess. At first she took her pointer finger and would just play a little. I helped out some by taking her hand and pushing into the cake, after that she got it. Before she attacked the cake I was able to snatch a pic of the cake that Grandma Trena made, which she did a wonderful job at. Thank you Grandma!!

Before the mess with the cake she opened her gifts, thanks again to everyone and your generosity. It was pretty funny to me but sad to her, she would open one gift want to play with it and focus just on that one, but we had to take that away and move onto the next. She got pretty frustrated with that concept. On Tuesday, the actual day of her birthday, Brandon and I both took the day off to be with her. We did have the plans to take her to go get a Kiddie Kandid picture and build a bear/frog, but she decided she rather give herself a present of croup, which we found out after the party like at 11 pm. Poor thing she can't catch a break, she has been in the doctors office once a week for the past three weeks. (Ear infection, allergic reaction to amoxicillin, now croup.) So we decided the best thing is just to stay home and we will do those things when she is feeling better. Instead we had the grandma's and grandpa's over again for dinner and another round of cake and ice cream. This time I didn't have to put her hand into it, she had remembered.
Man how we love this sweet little girl. Kairi you have brought us such joy and happiness this past year. You are our precious baby girl! Love Mum and Da.

Halloween

This was Kairi's first Halloween and we had so much fun with her. Friday we went to Brandon's old employer, Staker Parson, where you can bring your kids and go trick or treating to each department. She was Dorothy. When Brandon worked there she was just brand new so all the people were excited to see how much she has grown and so impressed that she is walking already. It didn't take long for her to catch onto the idea of putting candy in a basket. She got quiet a lot of candy to give to mommy and daddy.
Saturday we went to Grandma and Grandpa McEntire's to have a party in the afternoon, then to Grandma and Grandpa Drakes. After that we came back to our house to get ready for trick or treaters. We were impressed because we had a lot of kids that came to our house. There was even one kid who just sat in our front yard not wanting to come to the door because our house was spooky. The little boy did gather up courage though when our friends, Brian and Dana, arrived. I guess he felt safer if he wasn't alone. He was a pretty cute kid. We really enjoyed having Halloween in our own house. I actually got a little sad when it came time to take down our decorations. It looks so bare.

You are all so jealous that you don't have a fridge just like ours. Well it can be for just 3 payments of $19.99 plus shipping and handling!
Thank goodness we have a home warranty, so we should be getting a new fridge shortly. We better for all the stress and terrible times we had just to get the "repair guy" here. Yeah I will be there in 30 mins. 2 hours later who should show up? Grrr!

Who you gonna call? Not the Appliance EMTs, that's who.

[UPDATE 2]
Apparently Alliance Home Warranty doesn't want to replace our fridge like the originally stated. Now they want to send out another repair company to waste our time. I think that this whole thing is getting just a little ridiculous.

Another great example of getting screwed by a Warranty/Insurance company. Maybe I should report this to The Consumerist.com

[UPDATE]

As with all Warranty/Insurance companies Alliance Home Warranty is trying to weasel their way out of a fridge replacement. They say that the "ice box" is not covered... IT"S NOT THE FREAKING ICE BOX! What a bunch of $#!*

Yeah, so there you have it.

First Steps

I find it hard to believe in 10 short months Kairi has gone from a blob who stayed where you put her to a nothing is sacred little girl. CrAzY! I am in awe everyday on how much she learns so quickly. Pretty soon she will be asking for the car keys or I like this boy, can I bring him home?
Oh how we love her!

Over-The-Hill

Happy birthday old farts

In Marci's family we had two people go "Over-The-Hill" this week, Marci's sister Laura, age 30, and Marci's Dad Allen, age 60. (It should also be noted that Darci, Laura's 7 year old daughter, let Laura know that she'll be 60 in 30 years. There's sensitivity for you.) And we shouldn't forget that we also have a new teenager in the family, Kyra.

Rolling in style

Being the awesome people that we are, we offered up our house and of course our pool for the occasion. Since we are so awesome, we thought that we'd make sure they, Laura and Allen, had a birthday to remember.

We had balloons, cake, wheelchairs, neck-braces and even plots dug out just for them. We have no doubt in out minds that they will never forget this birthday.

Just read the shirt, it says it all

The party was a big hit and the biggest problem that we had was getting people out of the pool. We turned the heater on 6:30 am to make sure that it would be nice and enjoyable by the time people arrived. Problem with water at 90 degrees is that once people get in, they don't want to get out.

We love having a private pool to use for whatever.

Doesn't everyone deserve a spot under a tree?

Happy 30th LauraHappy 60th Allen

Happy Birthday Laura, Allen, and Kyra

Our 3rd Anniversary

Too cute to not post

Wow, three years has come and gone fast. It seems like only yesterday we were in the Bountiful Temple being sealed together. Life comes at you fast I guess.

Typically we celebrate by going out of town for the night or over the weekend. However, this year we decided to switch things up a bit and take a whole week off and just do day trips. Very fun actually. We went out dinner at Tepanyaki on Monday, Thanksgiving Point on Tuesday, stayed home being lazy on Wednesday, went to the Raptors game on Thursday, finished the backyard on Friday and had an Over-The-Hill pool party on Saturday. What a week.

While most of this wasn't too exciting, we had a lot of fun together as a family and really enjoyed our week together. The worst part of the whole week was when I, Brandon, had to deal with two emotionally constipated females for two days in a row. I thought I would need another vacation after that. LOL

So, here is a little of our week explained in pictures. (mouse over for captions)

Daddy and kai waithing in a hugh line to see the DinosaursDinosaurs are scary!

Finally done! :) Aren't they cute?

And the best I have saved for last...

And the close ups...

RIP Laura at age 30 RIP Allen at age 60

It's weeks like this one that make you never want to go back to work.
